June 4-10, 2018 Eruption aftermath, dental work, figs

Volcano update

Fuego still churning and spewing...

Now, TOOTH NEWS

Figs!
Fellow temple missionaries, the Fajardos,
cooked 12 figs and gave them to us to
eat. I ate one whole, but had to do
something with them before I ate another.
These were the first figs I’d ever eaten.
I mashed them up with a little strawberry
jam and plain yogurt. They were then so
good that I ate all the other 11.

My youngest brother, Neal, turned 60 on June 8.
I watercolored likenesses of him, from photos, at
ages 22 and 56. He liked them. I didn’t like them
all that much. I wish I could make them look more
professional, like the following portraits by my
watercolor teacher Jill Smith.

  1. Devastating eruption! So grateful the Cluff's got out in time. So sad for these people.

  2. What sad before and after pictures. Makes me ache for the people. I just can’t imagine the horror of having missing family members. Well glad you are getting all that dental work done down there so it doesn’t cost a fortune! And so conveniently close to your apartment!
