October 15-21, 2018 Chulac visit

But ...
There was entertainment

There were speeches

There was soccer

There were lots of children

There was a place to bed down
at a kind of trade school for Kekchi young people

There was food there
under a thatched roof

There was also food at the Maas
family communal dining room

Cooked over an open fire were the following delicacies...

Kakik (turkey drumstick spicy soup)

Fish
It was good. I ate it all, even though I normally don’t eat fish.

I had never heard of tilapia before. I would try it again.

Comments

  1. You can get tilapia at Superstore here in town. I'll learn how to make kakik too, just for you when you get home. Nasty roads. Hooray for first-world infrastructure spending!
